Santa's Elf for Seniors Gets Warm Donations From Inland Empire Realtors

Santa's Elf Program for Seniors Gets Warm Donations From the  IE Redlands/Beaumont area Realtors

Every month we plan what our event will be for Women's Council of Realtors as of course we must plan ahead. So we planned to have an UGLY SWEATER Holiday Luncheon but realized we had forgotten find a good cause for the community in December.

Here is Barbara Gilgan holding some of the donations.

We decided on the Joslyn Senior Center in Redlands which takes care of many home-bound seniors here in the Inland Empire. Barbara Gilgan who is the Program Director said they could use all the help possible since they are giving warm PJ's, Robes, Scarves/ Hats, Lap Blankets, Slippers etc for all the home-bound seniors as they wanted to make sure that everyone recieved at least one nice gift.

Barbara was telling us that many seniors live alone and do not have family or friends who visit. After she told me this, I knew this was the perfect fundraiser for all of us Realtors and Affiliates here in the Redlands, Calimesa, San Bernardino, Loma Linda, Beaumount and surrounding communities.

We added this to our social media sites, on our Eventbrite invitation and distributed flyers. Everyone who attended brought bags of warm items for the seniors to give them a smile on their face and have a gift to open on Christmas morning. It touched my heart when I found out the meals on wheels volunteers work on Christmas to make sure their seniors have a good hot meal.

I wanted to share these photos as we had a good time and even Santa and Mrs. Clause came to our luncheon. My opening schedule was 30 minutes late as everyone in the room wanted selfies with Santa and of course his special candy cane plus a holiday ornament provided by Women's Council of Realtors.

It was a fun event and many Realtors/Affiliates who could not make the luncheon dropped off warm clothing for the seniors at the Senior Center.

A Big THANK-YOU to all who participated. Please remember that these items can be donated at other times of the year. Christmas, Winter Cold Weather,  Valentine's, Mothers Day, Father's Day, and just any day of the year. This is so important as their are so many programs to help kids and families but very few to help the seniors. Kiss a Senior today and give them a smile!
