Do You Think People Read Your AR Blog....Absolutely
This past several weeks I have received multiple phone calls from two people who read my blog and both touched my heart. I decided to share the stories.
1) I received a call from a local minister and he asked me about a post I published on AR last year regarding an icon restaurant called Griswold's that was open for approx 40 years and closed down in 1978. Most locals within 50 miles around went there for Sunday breakfast or for special occasions and holidays. I had found a post card I had bought in the gift shop there in the 70's and that was what stimulated me to write the post in the first place. Cars in the post card were from the 50's and it was a cool shot. This place was a Danish Smorgasbord and with terrific food....and oh my gosh they had fabulous desserts too. Anyway the minister called me as he was planning the funeral of a local resident who had been a cake baker there for years at Griswald's. He had Googled the restaurant and my blog showed up and that is why he contacted me. Since we spoke on the phone, he sent me a copy of the funeral handout he had written. He told me he was going to mention our conversation to the family and friends the next day. In my post, I talked about my memories with family there and the good food and how sad residents were when it finally shut down. We went there so often that I am sure I must have seen this lady making the cakes because the baker's are was in the public view behind glass. It really touched my heart to talk to him and glad my memories were going to comfort this lady's family and friends. We chatted for quite a while and are planning to meet me for coffee soon. This call just made my day or really my week. Funny thing is she lived in the same smaller community I live in. How close we were to each other but our paths never crossed.
2) Then last week a Veteran called me from Vermont. I had written a blog on Veteran loans and sometimes they can get a waivers when there are a lot of repairs needed. Of course I had gotten this info from the Veteran Lender Program sites and from other lender's blogs because my specialty is real estate. Well, he called me to ask if I could give him some guideance as he has been in escrow for 2 months in Florida and the appraiser had called out a lot of repairs and the run down property was not going to qualify as the bank is refusing to do all the repairs called out. I told him to call his lender and light a fire. He called me a few days later and said that they had extended the escrow date and were working on it. He was such a nice man and wanted to call me back to thank me. I was so glad I had helped him out. I told him to try and remember to call me and let me know when his house closed escrow.
So when I send out my daily posts, of course my main objective is to reach potential sellers or buyers but glad others get something out of my articles. I have probably had 10+ calls and emails from people who read the Griswald's article and just called to share their experiences there too.
Thanks for Reading my Real Estate Blog...........
