In 2007, a bad brush fire destroyed many of the mansions in Malibu on Pacific Coast Highway, including the Red Hot Chili Peppers' mansion Flea's home.
Flea told the L.A. Times that his home "burnt to a crisp."
Other celebrities, like director James Cameron and Olivia Newton-John- who have primary homes there - were evacuated and their homes were saved. Celebs who have vacation homes, such as Jennifer Aniston, Sting, and Bill Murray, also escaped the fire.
According to property records, shortly after the fire, Flea listed the burned land (2.4 acres) on the market for $2.8 million.
Since no one bought the parcel,he took it off the market. In the following year, Flea had a new home built; an ultra-contemporary pad constructed by award-winning California architect firm Marmol Radziner . Flea has listed the property back on the market for $4,795,000.
Best known for his role in founding the "Red Hot Chili Peppers," Flea, or Michael Peter Balzary, has also played bass in prominent groups like "Jane's Addiction," "River Phoenix" and "Rage Against the Machine." He also has been in a few movies "The Big Lebowski" and "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas."
The listing describes the home as an "architectural masterpiece." The 3-bedroom, 3-bath house has views of the canyon and Pacific Ocean and includes features high ceilings, a free-form pool, outdoor fireplace and access to Escondido Beach.
Agent Irene Dazzan-Palmer of Coldwell Banker holds the listing.
