Do You Know What is in Your Attic

My mother bought a condo in 2007 and I of course was her Realtor. We had a home inspection and all went great and she closed escrow. So now a few years later and we are selling the condo and the new buyers had a home inspection. And much to my surprise, there was a request to "Remove the Antenna and all Personal Items" from the Attic. What? Personal Property? An Antenna?

Do You Know What is in Your Attic

Since we have owned it, this condo had a lot of upgrades including a ceiling fan in the master suite. Recently we had the florescent fixture removed from the kitchen and had recessed lighting put in with crown moulding and these upgrades were all done by licensed contractors. Both times they did get into the attic to do the wiring. BUT no one ever mentioned anything strange in the attic to me!

Do You Know What is in Your AtticWe agreed to remove the items so up to the attic we went and pulled the items down. We found a big flat intertube, a bed frame, an old central vaccum canister, 2 rolls of carpet padding, a roll of carpeting, and of course the ANTENNA which was bolted to the attic. The interesting thing was that the carpeting, the bed frame, and the carpet padding were all wrapped in newspaper with sting. When we took it outside and touched it, the paper and twine crumbled due to age. I did get to read a few dates on the paper-

June 11, 1980 from the Wall Street Journal.

So if you haven't looked, see if there is anything up in your attic!
