Branding is so Important to be Recognized

Have You Seen A Blue Bug with Grey Spots....Take a Look

Branding is so important and we as real estate agents must continue to do so to stay successful in this ever changing world.

Recognition- When I saw this cute little VW Bug stop in front of me and park, I immediately thought of the recognition of this car. No matter what country in this world you happen to be in, most people will recognize this car. Old or new, this cute little car reminds me of growing up, hearing this car make a cute noise with its air cooled engine and seeing that it was trying to keep up with the rest of the cars on the road.

Persistence- Another feature about the bug is that it just keeps on going plus it has not changed much since the first one in 1938. This made me thing about persistence and the public’s perception of a hard working agent. Are you the agent that keeps on going like the VW Bug?

Pleasant Thoughts- Today the major companies spend obscene amounts of money branding their logos or products to trigger something in our brain to have name recognize and pleasant thoughts. You want homeowners to see your face and think how nice you were one day while farming in their neighborhood. They might have been rude and short with you and acted like you were a ‘Pesky Realtor’ but you just smiled and told them how nice it was to talk to them. This is the image you want them to remember.

Emit Confidence by showing you are the Expert- So get your pictures, your name, your logos, and anything else you want to be known as and brand yourself until you are blue in the face. You want people to see your name and think “Yes she/he is the agent in my neighborhood” or “She/he sells so many homes so I am going to call that agent to sell my home”. Give them substance while branding yourself. Give them reports, updated news about prices and let them know you are the go-to person.

If a stranger were to walk up to you and ask “What is your brand?” you might attempt to explain what you do, how you do it and for whom you do it. But real brand development entails much more, so much more and extremely difficult to explain your brand using words.

Your brand also includes your customers’ experience, both physical and emotional, and the manner in which you do business in your company. Your brand is your promise to your customers. Brand development is a process that should continually evolve and grow with your business forever or as long as you are in business.

I want to be the VW Bug in my area!

You are right about the "branding" in the area!   My husband and I have our picture with our bulldog, Munson, that many people in our area recognize.

Branding is putting yourself in the minds of the people and we have to be consistent and never let up.

We had an agent that had a bug and the wording was "go ahead BUG ME for all your real estate needs" she drove that thing everywhere

Hi Charles,

That is so cute 'go ahead and bug me for all your real estate needs' and everyone likes little beetles. Herbies are so cute!

Hi Kristin, This is an excellent pos and point well taken. We have to be a brand and this would be a great course to offer in the Rain. The idea is both simple and complex. Probably the most difficult part can be recognizing and associating yourself to the brand, once it is decided on.

Hi William,

Branding is a pretty new term but the idea has been around for a long time. We must get our name out there and keep it out there for others to call us. You cannot be a "Secret Agent".

Kristin, great article, branding is an important part of the business strategy!

Kristin - What a great post! Branding is so important and you're right - this cute bug is well known. I remember the Love Bug and seeing them the road. Every now and then I see one; not as frequently as I did  before and it always gives me a sense of nostalgia!

Hi Silvia,

Glad you enjoyed the post and yes it is something we must do constantly to get remembered.

Hi Patricia,

This cute little guy happened to be at a AM-PM yesterday and even with its primer spots and license plate tied onto the front with red cord, I thought it still had a lot of life left in it. I wonder what the mileage was? I see them down at the beach sometimes and also the VW Buses. They were cute too.
