The Art of Making a Vision Board and Redirecting Your Life

The Art of Making a Vision Board and Redirecting Your Life

The art of making a vision board and redirecting your life

Until recently I had never heard of a vision board but have been a firm believer in the video “The Secret” where your mind can control your destiny.

Make a Vision Board and Redirect you Life

The photo album laced with ribbon hanging on my office wall with pictures, shapes I adore, and images of cruise ships, titles or pictures of places I want to visit lastly and a picture of a baby (because I would like to be a grandmother) is a vision board even though I didn’t know it.

art of making a vision board and redirect your lifeDo you take a piece of poster board, cork board or a hanging photo album and glue pictures of things like money or a job or whatever you want and then it automatically comes true? No, but placing items you love, your dreams, your total desires in the future and putting it on a board and focusing on it every time you walk into the room makes your desires stronger. The idea is that the vision board will guide your decisions based on your dreams and that your life is steered in that direction. This is a place where you hang things that will ‘make you happy’. Every day when you walk into that room and you see these images and words, you smile and think “Yes this is what I want to do”.

I had a picture of a bear hanging in my office for a couple of years and always wanted to go to Alaska. Then my friend said “Let’s all go on a cruise to Alaska” and I have now been twice. Perhaps I had mentioned Alaska to my friend but anyway I loved the state and enjoyed my trips there. Did the bear picture steer me there? Maybe! I would like to think so anyway.

Here is my latest Vision Board; a new couch, 16 new listings, a cruise to Hawaii, my daughter finally graduating, a new me after 3 months on my dieting, and just some images of things I love like bicycles, dragonflies, gardening butterflies, bees, birds, birdhouses, cupcakes (not on my diet), diet cokes, and flowers.

Try it and see if it helps direct your visions in a positive manner. I think you will be pleased and if you are still not sure, go get the dvd of “The Secret” and watch it as it is mind boggling.

Also you can make separate work or family vision boards or like me and just mix them on one board.

Kristin, Nice post! Gayle Rich wrote a blog about this very thing with a different twist. She wrote about perserving memories with old photos and such in a vision board.  Great ideas to think about!

Hi Bob,

Alaska is wonderful. I was almost born there but my dad was transferred from Fairbacks a couple of months before I was due. I was born at an Air Force Base in California. I still feel a bond to Alaska.

Kristin, very interesting take, I have always had  a focus so I never considered  vision boards, now I am considering if the results are successful I might become a fan...I read 'the secret' when it came out some of the people who preached in there well lets just say.....

Hi Endre,
Whatever your religious beliefs are, I think 'The Secret' dealt with all and not any specific sects. I have always had vision boards as they keep me directed and pictures of people I love and places I have been also make me smile when I walk in the room.

Hi Patty,

You are exactly right and they are fun to make. I can spend a couple of  hours cutting out the pictures and adding text.

Kristin seems like your vision board works for you.   Here is hoping this year you will accomplish more things from your board.

Kristin,

I made one last year and I must admit it was fun! I do believe in having a vision and when you see it completed, it's an accomplishment. I hope all your dreams and visions come true!!!

Hi Patricia,

I think it is fun to save magazines and cut out shapes and pictures. I just found a yoga picture in a magazine that came today so I am going to add it to my board as I want to start doing YOGA again. I did it for years. Hope your Superbowl Sunday is great.

Thank you for sharing

I started my very first today. It is fun. I added some feng shui colors and structure in it.

Yes and my entire office has a class two or three times a year on how to make vision boards. Even a picture or two in your office that you might pass several times a day can work to focus on.
